Here are some of my clients’ most commonly asked questions!
How does your coaching work?
All families complete an intake form that details their child’s history and current schedule. During an initial consultation, I review sleep science basics, the child’s history form, and we develop an actionable plan to help everyone get more sleep. Most families I work with choose consultation and a follow-up package. When dealing with more complicated situations, particularly when working on more than one child in the household, additional coaching sessions may be needed to fully support parents throughout the process of implementing a new sleep plan.
Is my child the right age for sleep coaching?
I work with parents who have infants, babies, toddlers, and children up to 6 years old, providing practical suggestions that are developmentally appropriate. If you have an older toddler or preschooler, don’t lose heart- it’s never too late to establish good sleep habits!
What is your philosophy about sleep coaching?
My background in Developmental Psychology and training helps me incorporate a philosophy that respects the child-parent attachment in relation to sleep coaching. Through my extensive experience with families via telehealth, I have honed the skill of helping families quickly and effectively to get a good night’s sleep.
How do your coaching packages work?
All families I work with complete a thorough intake form that details their child’s and family history and current schedule. During the initial consultation, we review sleep science, the history form in detail and we craft a new sleep plan together. Then, parents either choose to work on the new information on their own or choose to schedule follow-ups as part of a package.
I don’t want to do cry-it-out. Do you offer other sleep coaching methods so that I don’t have to let my baby cry?
I always do my best to help parents minimize the amount of crying their child will face. Most often, I suggest we start with a stay-and-support technique and assess if it’s a good fit for both child and parent.
I can’t stand to hear my child cry. Can’t you offer a no-cry sleep solution?
I still remember how horrible it felt to hear my children cry when they were babies! But, when we change our behavior it’s a normal response for our baby to cry, since they can’t anticipate the change. Sleep coaching will be challenging for a short amount of time and that’s why I help parents through the process of implementation.
How long will it take for things to improve- I’m so tired!
Depending on the age of your baby, parents typically see progress within several days of consistently adopting a suggested sleep plan.
